Transformational Trends & Their Impact
“This is one of the things that I find most interesting about social media – yes, it’s great for entertainment and for engaging people in new, exciting ways, but the true power of the medium is in its connectivity, in its ability to link us together and highlight the commonalities of the human condition.”
Wow…. the second part of that statement is a grabber —
…but the true power of the medium is in its connectivity, in its ability to link us together and highlight the commonalities of the human condition.
When I read this statement and the rest of the article I couldn’t help thinking about what this means for the nonprofit. Large or small, the nonprofit needs to adapt to the new reality of marketing and fundraising in today’s world. The idea that the true power of social media is connectivity and its ability to link us together on commonalities should be music to our nonprofit ears. After all isn’t that what we are always trying to do?
But how do we adopt and embrace this new reality? Thats our challenge…
The way we interact with others has forever changed and our expectations, especially regarding connectivity and social interactions, are finding a new footing. If we, as a nonprofit, understand this, we can better communicate, connect, and engage with people ways that can be meaningful and fulfilling to them.
This is exciting! We need to find that common ground and we need to discover how to adapt our marketing, communications and fundraising to this reality. It’s a challenge worth pursuing.
